Hailing from Derby, Marsielle are lighting up the UK indie rock scene this summer with the release of their newest FREEDOM EP. Perfect for fans of hazy indie rock reminiscent of sunshine and the 90s Manchester scene, the young band have already been singled out as ones to watch and for good reason. The EP is bursting of energy and is evident of the love the band have for the music they’re making which fans will find is extremely infectious, it would be hard to listen to these tracks without a smile on your face.

Showcasing the band’s heart, track 3, ‘Thinker’, is full of emotion and shows another side to the group’s musical ability. The lyrics are heartfelt and raw, reflecting on the difficult loss of loved ones. It is deep and soulful and arguably a stand-out track on the EP as a whole. It is a talent to be able to produce tracks that both can make people stand up and dance alongside songs such as Thinker which allow for a deeper moment of contemplation.

The EP closes on ‘Lost and Found’, rounding off the record superbly. An undeniable fan favourite, it captures the raw quintessential sound of the band. Pulsing with a strong beat and a groove that draws listeners in, it is the perfect end of the EP. It shows how the band shouldn’t be underestimated on their climb up in the current indie rock scene. Marseille continue to move from strength to strength this year so far and for good reason.

Already completing a hugely successful UK tour, this EP is not one to miss for any fans. The band are poised to continue to thrive within the scene and any listeners who enjoy classic 90’s Manchester-inspired sound should keep an eye on what they have planned next.
