The official Winter Olympics anthem has just been released, and is being performed by Arisa, Italian singer.
With the Winter Olympics being held in Milano and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Arisa, a household name in Italy has performed the track ‘Fino all’alba.’
Arisa rose to fame in 2009 after her appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival, a popular Italian song contest, where she placed first for her entry. Since the competition, Arisa starred as a judge on the Italian X Factor as well as lending her voice to the character Lucy Wilde for Despicable Me 2.
The single ‘Fino all’alba’, is reminiscent of genres such as Europop/Dance-pop and sounds as though it could be a track that would be featured on Eurovision. The track itself also features moments that involve string instruments such as violins along with powerful drums that help to capture the energy and importance of the event. The song also features vocals that are very compelling and dramatic, especially within the chorus really indicating the powerful feeling of an Olympic anthem, with influences of the past.
The track was originally previewed in the 72nd edition of the Sanremo Festival, where Arisa found her fame in the beginning. There were two potential songs to be used for the games, ‘Fino all’alba’ in competition with ‘Un po’ più in là sung’ by another artist, Malika Ayane. Fino all’alba won the vote by 72%.
The winning song was composed by La Cittadina, a musical group from San Pietro in the province of Monza and Brianza. The song is written impressively by two 17-year-old boys, Gianni and Francesco Marrone. The project also involved the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of University Research along with conservatoires, institutes bands and choirs throughout the country of Italy.
