A week Full of Mondays - ‘Feelings Fading’ | Single Review

September 20 | Written by Becca Stokes

Midlands-based band A Week Full Of Mondays have been counting down to the release of their debut single ‘Feelings Fading’ by teasing their audience with photoshoots and effortlessly cool video clips. This band is confident in their identity and this is strikingly obvious not only in their look but in their latest track.

A Week Full Of Mondays

‘Feelings fading/ Seasons changing’; the newest single from A Week Full Of Mondays, released on the 8th of September, is quick to evoke a sense of melancholy. It eases the audience in with its soft melody and gentle vocals. The simplicity of the acoustic guitar perfectly accompanies these opening lyrics and the result feels honest and raw; both in its sound and in the emotions being conveyed.

However, this track was not inspired by the downfall of a relationship, as the title may suggest; instead, it is intended to critique an environment that ‘alienates the common person with a desire to be anything other than themselves’. The feeling being described as fading is actually guilt, which brings a hopeful undertone to the song. This track tells a tale of growing up, making mistakes, and, most importantly, learning to let it all go because you are still young and that’s okay. It is a perfect showcase of the band’s story-telling.

A Week Full of Mondays

With a sound inspired by the likes of Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, and Nothing But Thieves, the Wolverhampton-based boys are winning over crowds in some of the most iconic music venues in the Midlands, including the Sunflower Lounge, where they made a well-received appearance for The Future Sound Project Takeover.

A Week Full of Mondays

A Week Full Of Mondays are a band who refuse to be confined to one genre, instead describing themselves as an ‘ethereal alt-rock band’ with ‘post-punk undercurrents’ - an exciting combination, with an equally exciting outcome. Their latest track, titled ‘Feelings Fading’ possesses many traits of a classic indie anthem. With sulky lyricism and a punchy chorus, this tune embodies the unbeatable feeling of attending a live music venue with your mates: it deserves to be sung along to. The pre-chorus, ‘ We lie to ourselves…We lie to pretend’ is a bold and introspective statement that ought to be chanted.

‘Feelings Fading’, a poweful and promising debut from a band that is coming for your on-repeat rotation, is available now to stream on all platforms (and they’re just getting started).
