Kate B’Mand - Side of The Bed | Single Review

April 28 | Written By Maelou Pugh

Side Of The Bed, by Birmingham artist Kate B’mand, is out on 28th April. Social media and live events have extended her audience, and this long-awaited release will certainly be a success. Its publication hopes to create momentum ahead of the release of her debut EP, which will be released later this year. It will investigate the concept of FOMO, making ‘Side of the Bed’ a promising start for Kate.

The song is a breath of fresh air for her and her listeners. Side Of The Bed presents feelings of leaving behind love and friendship, as a result of her leaving home for university. Its lyrics evoke feelings of longing and a sense of yearning.

Side of the Bed exhibits aspects of alternative pop due to its relatable lyrics, warm synths, and catchy melody. The drum and bass patterns on this tune demonstrate the artist’s hip-hop influences. The wistful vocal on this tune is fashionable, and realistic. Nostalgia is explored, with a progression of optimism, to realism, to acceptance shown in Kate’s dialogue. The elements of the track are depicted in the accompanying music video.
