Katerina - Ballad Of A Hollywood Dreamer | Single Review
March 22 | Written By Coren Farley
It’s clear that Katerina’s has worked hard to create a backing track that shows off her unique voice whilst still allowing for the accompanying instruments to bring the song to life. As the song progresses gentle drums are added that really bring the piece together, the indie style is evident in this ballad as the listener takes a relaxed yet emotional journey. The bittersweetness accompanied with the moodiness of the song builds to really let the listener feel the narrator’s story.
‘They’re Trying to Sell my Books’ released as part of Damfino’s compilations album at the end of 2022. The debut told the story of a girl whose parents were eager to driver her out of the house, attempting this by threatening to sell her books. You can listen to ‘They’re trying to sell my books’ here.
Originally from Greece Katerina has recently moved to Scotland to continue working on her passion for music by studying commercial music at university there. She intends to launch ‘Ballad of a Hollywood dreamer’ on the 23rd of March at Ivory Blacks in Glasgow, if music lovers want to experience the emotionally charged track in person tickets are available here.
This track is one for the daydreamer within us all, it reminds us to dream big but also to take a break from the clouds once in a while and remember what’s going on around us now as to not become completely lost in them.
