Its a Beautiful Life | Pete Smith - SIngle Review

March 1 | Written By Kirsten Moreton

Pete Smith is a solo muscian from Dundee who has since 2019 been touring Scotland andcreating music. He released his debut track, The Lord Calls in 2020, a piano ballad which features haunting harmonies and powerful vocals.

The artists latest track It’s a Beautiful Life is to be release on the 3rd of March and completely contrasts the singers origins being an uplifting and positive track. The song combined elements of folk and eventually builds into a track with electric guitar and drums giving it a bit of a rockier feel. The track opens with simple acoustic guitar and vocals Smiths powerful vocals and accent accompany the songs folky elements really nicely giving it an almost trad feel. It is notable how impressive and passionate Smiths vocals are and just through his singing the musicians love for his craft is clear.

The track continues entering the chorus with a catchy vocal melody, punchy guitar and a pounding drum before swinging back into a stripped back verse. The song has great energy and feels like having a sing along with friends in a pub. The track is a must listen for those who love something a bit more upbeat and indie that makes for easy listening.

In terms of lyrics, the tracks lines match its upbeat sound perfectly. In a time where music is often about heartbreak and sadness, It’s a Beautiful Life is like a breath of fresh air featuring positive and uplifting lyrics. The track would be great in a live setting or even to bring some joy on a rainy day.

Overall, Its a Beautiful Life is an enjoyable track, perfect for sunny days and rainy days. Make sure to check it out on the third when the track drops on most streaming platforms.
