Jordan Dean - ‘Ride The Line’ | Single Review

July 11 2024 | Written By Lauren Ketterl

Indie-rock artist Jordan Dean released yet another single out of the “From the Garage” series titled ‘Ride The Line’ on May 24th. This new single comes following the release of the single ‘The Way The World Is’ in early April.

The Columbus, Ohio raised artist has been putting out singles out of his “From The Garage” series since April with the next one set to drop on June 21st. The indie-rock singer has shifted gears to more rock based with the release of this new series. With influence from bands like The Strokes, Kings of Leon, and The Kinks, this new music takes on that classic early 2010s indie rock vibe.

The song talks about taking risks and “riding the line” to break out of a cage. The opening line begins with “Waste away another day, I see the sunset.” He also discusses praise and the things he feels like he must do to break out into this stardom. One of the lyrics reads “What a case, run in place as far as I can tell. What a time to be caged in.” This shows that feeling of being stuck and sensing that time and talent are being wasted.

He goes on to say, “Go to the bar, I’ll be a star they told me that I was. 30 seconds my own slice of heaven, that’s where I’m understood.” This backs the idea of wanting that praise and having a place to go where people support you. The song shows a common trend of pursuing a dream and doing whatever it takes to make those dreams come true.

The lyric, “Quite the sharp attention, I’ve got to make a deal with the man. I’ve robbed him blind again, accept his little friend confidence,” reference a deal with the devil situation which references back to that feeling of wanting fame and doing whatever it takes to get there. This song embodies the struggle of chasing a dream and how sometimes you have to ride the line and let life take the wheel to get you where you’re supposed to be.

Jordan Dean proved yet again why his incredible song writing should make any son of his an instant save. Listeners can check out more new music from him on June 21st.
